STAPERM CU-7-PCIR-20CM² with Smart Test Station

The PCIR 20 cm² assembly combines a permanent reference electrode and coupons for underground cathodic protection measurements and AC corrosion mitigation monitoring. It supports ON/OFF and native-potential testing, including IR-free measurements.

Technology and construction

PCIR combines a permanent copper/copper sulfate reference electrode with steel coupons in a single underground monitoring assembly. The porous ceramic body provides 360-degree side contact, while the integrated 1 cm² AC coupon adds a dedicated measurement element for AC corrosion mitigation monitoring.

• IR-free measurement capability: Supports coupon ON/OFF potential testing with the appropriate interruption and measurement arrangement, helping separate polarization potential from voltage drop through the soil.
• AC mitigation monitoring: The integrated 1 cm² AC coupon supports current-density evaluation using measured coupon current and known exposed area. The assembly monitors conditions; it does not itself remove induced AC.
• 360-degree ceramic contact: The ceramic sidewall provides distributed contact with the surrounding soil.
• Chloride-ion trap: Helps protect the reference electrolyte from chloride contamination within the stated soil chloride limit.
• Included Smart Test Station: Provides an instant-OFF switch, color-coded banana jacks and a 0.01-ohm shunt for organized field measurements.

Underground pipelines, coupon-based cathodic protection monitoring and AC mitigation monitoring locations, including pipeline corridors affected by nearby AC transmission systems.
