Questions about this product? ↗The STAPERM™ AG-4-UGPC is a permanent silver/silver chloride reference electrode for underground cathodic protection monitoring. Its porous ceramic body provides contact with the surrounding soil, while blue end caps identify the electrode chemistry.
Technology and construction
The all-ceramic sensing body provides porous contact around the electrode’s circumference. This 360-degree side-reading design gives the electrode a broad contact surface for permanent monitoring in soil or concrete. The ceramic is designed to support low contact resistance between the reference element and its surrounding electrolyte.
Key advantages
- 360-degree contact: The exposed ceramic sidewall provides distributed contact around the body, supporting dependable potential measurements.
- Permanent monitoring point: Install near the structure to establish a consistent location for repeated cathodic protection readings, including locations that become difficult to access.
- Protected, identifiable construction: Protective end caps and chemistry-specific colors help crews identify and handle the correct electrode.
- High-chloride chemistry: The silver/silver chloride model is intended for chloride-bearing soils, including the catalog’s 200 ppm and higher soil category.
Applications
Buried pipelines, underground storage tanks and concrete-encased steel or reinforcing steel. For installations requiring a smaller ceramic diameter, ask GMC about the BD concrete models.
